I don't manage very well the images loading ! they are always cut ! The sizes are 800 x 600. I'll try other sizes. Richard

Hi Richard, If images are over 1200 pixels x 900 pixels, they will be resized to those limits. I just made up those limits, so I don't know if anyone prefers that they can be bigger than that? Anyway... so that the forum stays tidy looking, images are presented cropped at 500 pixel width. But if you click on the images, you should see that they enlarge to the original proportions.

David, Would it be possible to have the pictures resized to 500 pixels rather than cropped ? It would be nice to have an horizontal line between each post. Thanks.

Horizontal lines! Yes, I can do that. Your forum images are not, in actuality, cropped. It is only necessary to click on an image to have it shown in its original size and proportions. The initial state of images when viewed is set to impose good order through conformity - otherwise threads would be filled with long/tall/wide/big/small pictures which is liable to make the overall page format look untidy. it's also a feature in consideration for people using smartphones and tablets who would struggle to view (for example) letterbox type images. You want to upload pdf files, Jacques? It is quite possible, but the file sizes of pdf's tend to be rather larger than jpeg, so there is a potential issue in resource overheads. But if you ask David Kaun and he gives the go-ahead, I can get that added.

al, Do'nt even bother. this is not a web site, there is just no polite word for it. I think that it can not even be mended. Had you seen TMT you would know what a Dinky forum could look like. The structure here is much too complicated, a real mess, there has been no thinking before designing this piece of junk. I can not see why the club is spending any money on this. just forget me.

Hello Jacques - Please could you indicate where you are finding the forum to still be broken and/or over complicated?

Jacques, many of us are still reeling from the changes and have not yet tried to use the new forum, but I am not prepared to give up on it. And certainly if you were no longer to be a participant, that would be a major loss. So please stick around! The ideal Dinky website will probably never happen. What it would be is a online version of the Dinky Toys Encyclopaedia -- possible of course since you have already written it using HTML -- that would be continuously updated. It could look exactly the way the DVD version does today, except that at the bottom of the page of each model there would be an area where registered users could post comments and upload additional pictures. Until that day arrives, it is better to live with an imperfect site than have nothing!

I agree with you johnnyangel. Nothing's perfect but it can only turn better, not worse. I am happy with the easy uploading of images now, which allow a much better quality/resolution than before. I am happy with the easy uploading of text and completing the editing before the unfinished / unedited text and/or images are prematurely published (as they were before). I am happy with the structured organizing of threads/discussions which were a chaotic listing before, only ordered by chronology of posting. No doubt it can all be improved, and it MUST be, and it has been promised virtually everything can be improved/changed,adapted. But this is only possible if we do use the present facilities, get experience and give constructive feed back to those who have helped the website through a difficult transitional period (and of course if we get replies to our complaints/suggestions/requests). I take this opportunity to repeat my almost continuous feed back that I have never ever received a notification email of discussions I shared. And finally I cannot agree more with 'Until that day arrives, it is better to live with an imperfect site than have nothing'. I will take back my words if anyone can advise a better existing forum and circle of enthusiasts discussing everything relating to Dinky Toys than the present one. With kind regards, Jan
