Hi all, Lovely additions all round. Rob, those light blue 36 series are fantastic, I had never even considered collecting this series by colours, you are a brave man! Chris Warr.

Hi all from Aotearoa (aka New Zealand), Just arrived this morning is this Breakdown Lorry Commer Chassis. I was interested in the yellow box as I think it coincides with the likes of the Mighty Antar and Centurion tank of the mid- 1950s Indeed, the date stamp is 10 56. Not to be confused with the later yellow box that usually came with the glazed version? Presumably the blue striped one came after this issue? Ron F

Hi Ron, nice addition that is! I like this familiar 'basic' colour better than most other colour variations. I agree with you that this box is of the '1956 generation'. Later yellow boxes have the brand name in italic lettering. The blue striped box precedes this one, because that one occurs both with the early 25x and later 430 catalogue numbers. Kind regards, Jan

I have just won the lot below. I can't pick up until Monday and am doing some research in the interim. I can't find anything on Google on the Vauxhall Viva in the US Export Box. How limited were these any one know? The Fab 1 box is missing part of one flap and the whole inner is missing, but being a Fluorescent Pink it is a good acquisition even though I am not keen on the Gerry Anderson Dinky's. Apologies for the non Dinky Photo Content, I will post more detailed pictures in due course.

Dave The 136 Vauxhall Viva was sold in the United States in a gold Export box. I think the model was also sold in the US in a yellow Export box. Below is a scan of a dealer's aid leaflet, that provides retailers in the United States with the display stands that were available, in this case two types that could be ordered together with the Dinky Toys that the stands can accommodate. You will notice that 3 Dinky 136 Vauxhall Vivas were included in the bulk lot for one stand only , the DA 55 Display Stand. This stand was designed to hold the entire range of Dinky Toys available in the US at that time. Kind regards Bruce (150) #601 6 June 2015

The 25X and 430 are starting to acquire not so reasonable prices these days. Not to mention that they are a truly great model! Ron and Jan Actually, the 25X/430 had a very interesting and varied box lives. Firstly it came in a plain orange box with details printed on the ends. Next came the same box but now with an orange, white and black label that incorporates both of the lid

Both models below arrived from the States, for very reasonable prices. Still, we, euro countries experience quite some trouble with buying from the States and GB, the exchange rate of the euro being so low at this moment. Well, there were also more favourable times, when the GBP almost equalled the euro and the dollar was nearing 1.5 euro, and they may return some day. The reason for buying a model that is beyond my time slot of 1934-1959 (the 1961 Fire Engine) is explained in its newly created thread, 259 Fire Engine (1961-1970). The final issue of the 25h/250 Streamlined Fire Engine (silver bell, treaded tyres, shiny base plate, italic brand lettering on box and treaded tyres pictured there) was just filling in an omission, a wanting variant of this iconic model. Both models to be rated as 'excellent', with some minor chipping. Box of 259: 'poor', box of 250: 'good'. Kind regards. Jan

Greetings all! A recent arrival has been my French Dinky Toys 527 Alfa Romeo '1900 Super Sprint' in its original box, that becomes the companion to my British Dinky Toys 185 Alfa Romeo 1900 'Super Sprint'. Notice the difference with the location of the inverted commas on the boxes of both models. Kind regards Bruce (150) #616 11 June 2015
