Hi Ron. Lovely Foden, memories for me too, every year when I was a kid we went to Haverfordwest on holiday, I remember Robinsons! I had a lovely French Dinky Berliet bus from there one year. In those days, very early 70's, you would get an odd look if you asked 'got any old stock?' in toy shops, and sometimes a dusty box would come out of the back. Cheers Chris Warr.

Hi Ron, wonderful acquisition you have. My favourite tanker, with its bright colours! The introduction of the new Dinky Supertoys brand was announced in MM of January 1955. In February there was actually an advertisement in MM of existing models under this label. I believe that introduction on the boxes was mixed-up more or less. As far as I'm aware the May 1955 Coles Lorry Mounted Crane always has 'Dinky Supertoys' on the box, whereas indeed the June 1955 942 Regent Tanker started with 'Dinky Toys' and later boxes have 'Dinky Supertoys'. Still, the June 1956 660 Tank Transporter had its first (yellow-lid) boxes with the brand name 'Dinky Toys'. Possibly the design and development of these models and their boxes had sequences different from the actual announcements or introductions. 'Typical Meccano', we say.
Kind regards, Jan

Hi all, Just had a look, my Regent is in a Supertoys box, no QC date I can see, but it spent many years the wrong way round in the box and the filler caps have worn away the inside top unfortunately. My Mobilgas is plain Dinky Toys, and has a QC stamp R2 4. I'm guessing there's supposed to be a 5 between the 2 and 4 making Feb 54? CW.

Chris You are absolutely correct in that there is a missing '5' in the stamp code. Just why this is the case I have no idea as it was very common with the early blue covered boxes with orange or red, covered label. Quite often when one cannot see a QC stamp it will suddenly turn up under a different lighting condition. Also, with fhe earlier blue covered boxes, the stamp can be found on the base of the box on the exterior. Of course with the stamp in blue it is often hard to see it, but under a fluorescent light often the stamp can be deciphered. This is also the location for the stamps on the 25X and the fork-lift truck whose number I cannot recall! Kind regards Bruce. (150) #531

Hi Richard, That is so nice, all the display pieces as well! I loved this one as a kid. Hopefully you'll have better luck with the lights than me, I bought a Spot On Zodiac with working lights last week, put a battery in, and they worked! For 2 seconds, then the 50 year old lamp blew. Need to find somebody who has old stock lamps now. Chris Warr.

Great pre- and early post-war acquisitions, Rob (as we are used to see from you!).
I wonder if the colours of our Vauxhall examples are the same, or if there is just a photographic difference. Mine could be characterized as moss-green, yours looks a kind of brighter green. It is a slightly later issue with ridged hubs (c. 1946-1950).
A nice occasion to present a new addition of mine too, a cream/green Duple Roadmaster Coach, neither model nor box perfect, but a very reasonably priced item. I intend to present some more photographes of this and other examples tomorrow, in an appropriate new thread. Kind regards, Jan

Rob--Those are very nice acquisitions, with 2 Bentley's, an Air Flow, and the Vauxhall. I have never seen a red Air Flow before, so am assuming that red must be somewhat rare. The Vauxhall is probably my favorite 30 series, and I have a nice brown one that I purchased years ago from a dealer in England. iAnd Jan, very nice Duple Roadmaster bus in a very nice color combination. I am posting below some images of my similar models, but nice going for both of you.Regards, Terry
