Wheel variations on 40e Standard Vanguard 1st type. All three models have the 1st baseplate with tinplate clip. The maroon hub version is one of a trade box of 6(!) similar models found by Keith Harvey.Rob

Nice to see,
so these variations demonstrated here date
from
pre -1950,
the rear - wheel covers added in December 1949.Do they also occur on covered rear wheel versions ? If you don ' t mind,
I tried some improvement on your picture: Kind regards,

Thanks Jan,
the picture looks much better ! I have never seen the covered rear wheel version in fawn with other than fawn wheels. But perhaps they do exist.I did not know about the maroon wheel version on the picture until I could buy it.Dinky Toys keep surprising us ! ! My next post is one more of such a surprise at least to me ! Kind regards,
Rob

Hi Rob,
Thank you for more pictures,
I have to keep updating my variations list ! I love the Vanguard,
and have just picked up a second Maroon body / Maroon hubs version,
playworn,
but at a very good price so I had to have it.At one time I had tried to put together a full
set
of all Post War English Dinky castings,
but came to realise I now had quite a few models,
particularly the later issues,
that I didn ' t actually like ! I now concentrate on a particular series,
28 / 25 / 40 at the moment
and try to get every variation I can.Much more fun ! There is no way I could do this mint / boxed,
so a good playworn is fine with me as I like to look along the shelf
and see how a model changed over the years. Thanks again for the pictures.Chris Warr.

To find a 39a Packard with colored hubs really amazed me.I have never seen one before
or
after.Has anyone on this Forum seen one ? The 39c Lincoln Zephyr on the picture is more common I think
and also exists in red with red hubs.I have never seen a 39f Studebaker with colored hubs,
but they should be out there.Has anyone ? Rob

Thanks Richard,
Still wondering if there are English produced Studebakers with coloured hubs out there...Here are some 39e Chryslers. The cream with cream hubs I found the most difficult to find.Rob

Just wanted to extend my welcome to the forum,
great to see you here Rob ! May I ask,
did your Packard & Lincoln (shown above) come
from
the same source ? Warm regards,
Stfan

Thank you Stfan
and yes the Packard
and Lincoln came
from
one source in the US.As I never saw the Packard before,
I took the model to the Houten toyfair to show it to some dealers
and collectors.Nobody had seen one before. The model is 100 % original.39 series Packards
and Studebakers with colored hubs are listed in various catalogues among the last export models made.Same with the Chryslers above.I found the two cream ones at Houten in a late yellow trade box with an US export label.Kind regards,
Rob

The 162 Ford Zephyr in lime green. On the right with the usual fawn hubs,
on the left with grey hubs.I found it last year on eBay not specially described. These grey hubs are fitted to the two tone blue Ford Zephyr. They must have ran out of the fawn hubs in the factory ! Hi Rob,
You did very well to spot those grey hubs,
many times I ' ve bought what I thought was a rare shade only to find it was just a poor photo instead ! Chris Warr.
