Three wonderful additions in the past week or so. The blue/yellow no. 931 Leyland Comet Lorry - in dual numbered blue striped Dinky Toys box - as a companion to my slightly earlier red/yellow no. 531 with ridged hubs - and the familiar no. 642 Pressure Refueller, an early example with smooth inside cabin roof. Finally an addition to my 'second love', the 1/1200 - 1/1250 ship models: a Wiking representation of the pre-war British aircraft carrier(s) H.M.S. Glorious / H.M.S. Courageous. This one very heavy (294 g) despite its modest size of 189 mm. I'm not sure yet if it's a pre-war issue or a post-war re-issue. Kind regards, Jan

These are wonderful -- I especially like the Comet. Meanwhile, here's what one has to do when there's no more room in the display for a full-size Dinky ...

Another Dinky arrived today -- one of the few still on my want list -- and was immediately put to work. it's too bad about the condition of the decals and the lack of the box. However, as readers may be aware, this model came in a box that was covered with a specially printed color sleeve. Samples that still have the sleeve are scarce and very expensive, so I decided I might as well settle for this one. After all, work to be done!

Hi all, I am always on the lookout for something unusual and I came across a late issue 978 Bedford TK Rubish Truck. It is fitted with green plastiuc wheels that I have not seen before, slightly smaller than the cast metal ones previously fitted. The chevrons on the back are also different Ron F

Ron I believe I have seen that variant for sale before, but I havent seen one in person.A warning: I have one Dinky (the Mexican Brinks truck) that has plastic wheels as well as plastic tyres. The two types of plastic have interacted with one another and the wheels are slightly melted, while the tyres cannot now be removed. The tyres on your Bedfords all look to be rubber, but I thought Id mention it. (The plastic ones have heavy duty written on the sidewalls.)

WowThat looks so nice in yellow! I only have a somewhat worn red own, with a broken windshield. Finding a nice yellow one was on my radar the past few years, until I stopped buying new models. I am very envious.....looks very nice....congrats on a nice acquisition!Best regards, Terry

Terry -- quickest reply ever! Obviously we were both thinking Dinky this afternoon! Yes, the yellow really pops. I think I'd only seen the red one in person before (though I don't have one myself). it's a much brighter yellow than, for example, the Eldorado convertible, which I now have it parked next to.

A truly lovely addition, Jonathan, still wanting in my collection! With reference to my recent Wiking ship model addition a fellow collector donated three nice pre-war Dinky Toys ships the other day, in good to excellent condition. Very much appreciated! These loose models are always very welcome for me in order to slowly improve the contents of my no. 50 Ships of the British Navy set. As soon as I will be satisfied with the all-over quality of the set I will try to re-string the contents, with one long string, the way it should be. Kind regards, Jan
