The Newmarket Horse Box with plastic hubs I have never seen before. I have only seen this model with light yellow metal and with dark yellow metal hubs. I would love to see a picture of your Horse Box. There are more models with plastic hubs that are hardly ever seen like the Guy Warrior Snowplough, the Mighty Antar with Propellor and the 984/985 Car Carrier and Trailer. Kind regards, Rob

The wheels or hubs are one of the ways to date the Dinky Toys. The table above is certainly not complete and I would welcome any comments, additions, corrections etc... to improve it. A similar table for the tyres could be made and perhaps mixed with the hubs table. Thanks for your help. Jacques.

Hello Jacques, For your list of smooth hubs I have some additions on the pre war British. Not only black color is know but also, very standard, blue. Extreme rare are some other colors, red, green, maroon. These colors were only fitted for a very short time and matched the color of the models, no's 24 and 25. See also recent article in The Journal on these models. The labels of pre war boxes 24, 25, 33, showed the models with these extreme rare hubs. In 1945/1946 the hubs on most models still were smooth, soon replaced by the ridged types. John.

Jacques This table is a great idea, and then you mentioned maybe combining it with the various tires. For some time the idea of a Masterm Timeline has crossed my mine, where we could have a table listing all of the major Dinky items in chronological order. For starters, we could include wheels, tires, boxes, baseplates, and maybe a few other somewhat major items. If we try to include too many things, it might become too lengthy or cumbersome, but with the above items,'it would be quite helpful to many of us. I am curious what you and the other members think of this idea. Regards, Terry

Terry, The list you are thinking of exists. I have put it on the CD in February 2010. It is a chronology of Meccano Ltd. and Dinky Toys, it includes 140 lines but as you suggest, this is too much and the idea is to have half a dozen lists with different subjects such as Wheel (hubs + tyres) features and gadgets (windows, seats, headlights, numberplates etc...), boxes, history of Meccano Ltd. ....... These lists would be on the same printable document and it would be easy to date a model. To complete this job, I need the help of every one and I am waiting for your comments. Jacques.

Hello Rob, This is interesting but the pictures are too small. What about making a large 800 pixels wide picture for each model ? Happy new year. Jacques.
