Hi Jan, Very nice to see the French version of the Coventry Climax, especially the box art work! It has been difficult in the past for me not to buy French Dinky Toys. The only reason to stay firm in my choice being to be able to deepen my collection with more variations in stead of broadening it with more models. (The one exception being a French mint boxed Simca 1000, which was my first real car!) You should not feel like Calimero, all Dinky Toys collections are special, small or large, mint or battered. We all share the passion for these wonderfull toys and the joy of collecting them. Nothing more and certainly nothing less! Kind regards, Rob

Rob--Well said....we all share a common love of our Dinky Toys and collecting them, and all of our interests and collections represent different points of view and also different levels of collections. I have collected Dinky's one way or another since I was a young boy of 6, and at different times have been more ardent about it, and feel that today, I have a very nice collection, representing what appeals most to me, and what I feel I can easily afford with regards to many other needs of my family. Many of us will always be impressed with other collections, due to their size and scope, but that should not diminish how special our own collections are. I have bought many Dinky's years ago from Keith Harvey, and talked with him on the phone several times. At one point, he invited me to come up and see his world class Dinky collection.....I have heard at various times it numbered like 10,000 different items....but regrettably, I never made time to drive the 90 miles or so to where it was housed. When I even think about that size of a Dinky collection, it numbs my mind, so I just choose not to dwell on how my collection is so insignificant compared to that. And by the way, I heard from him a few years ago that he was selling it all off, saying it was time to let it go. Terry

Nice Jan.... I, for one, happen to like the white tires on a lot of the Dinky's, even though it isn't necessarily authentic. I think your Cunningham looks quite good with them. Terry

There were also some casting variations : large or small headlights, a letter A engraved on the cab's ceiling of some. You can not see that one.
but here is the evidence. The Bedford TK cabs were cast in a die with two slightly different cavities. One marked 'A' (left hand picture) had almost flat headlights and small indicators when the other was not marked and had semi spherical headlights and large indicators. Both cavities have been modified very early to add a reinforcement for the coal lorry roof pannel. All six Bedford TK trucks can be found with either one or the other of these cabs.
