My Dinky of the day is actually a
set
of sorts....the 30 series of small commercial vehicles that Meccano introduced
from
1950 -1951.These were meant to replace the aging 25 series,
designed pre - war,
but still listed in the U.S.catalog for 1952.The post war
set
is a very nice one,
featuring trucks by Austin,
Dodge,
Fordson,
and Studebaker,
and all available in many colors.I finally completed my own
set
this past year with both of the Dodge trucks.........so here they are ! By the way: I guess we have been deviating notably
from
Jacques ' initial intention to memorize in this thread a Dinky model which on a certain day represents a memorable historical fact,
and not a model that just comes up in our minds on a certain day ! (

this was my intention but some people thought that this thread is for the Dinky That they received to day.

I would like to suggest that the moderator delete all of the posts
except
Jacques initial one,
then the thread can be correct.
And I would like to again ask why an original poster cannot delete his own posting ? Then we could easily correct situations like this.Terry

This is the very first advertissement with the two magic words DINKY TOYS.It was published on page 332 of the April 1934 issue of the Meccano Magazine.Note that there are already 80 varieties but of course almost all of them are ex Hornby modelled miniatures
except
the MG Magic Midget
and the GWR railcar.
