Coming across this 'Dinky of the Day', topic, my impulsive action was to add this nice 60 years old one of MM March 1956, using some photos in my stock. It is not my intention to start a monthly MM series, so, Bruce, or anyone, please feel free to do so! Kind regards, Jan

Jan---Christmas presents always create special memories, but even more so when they are something we treasured as a youngster, then all over again when we celebrate spending a lifetime with it. I have many Dinky's I received for Christmas....the first were in 1951 or 1952, and my dad took photos starting on 1955, but unfortunately they are unique slides, taken with a 'stereo' 3mm Kodak camera he had, and there is no easy way to copy them into digital format....I need to take them to a special shop and quite a bit to have them done, but will do that this year. I have well over 100 Dinky's surviving my first collecting phase of 1951-1959....I was very fortunate as others had similar collections that years later had disappeared.Best regards, Terry

Hi all, for the Dutch Saint-Nicolaas (5 December, today) is more important - as presents is concerned - than Christmas. Although globalization makes Christmas a competitor nowadays, the vast majority still celebrate Saint-Nicolaas eve, the night preceding his birthday on 6 December, with presents, surprises and little poems. That's why I can congratulate some of my childhood Dinky Toys with their birthday today. Not all of them survived, but the capital Supertoys and all models I got when I had grown some older had a better chance of surviving. The oldest one dates of 1956 (the repainted Mighty Antar Tank Transporter), the latest (the no. 584 Berliet GAK bach) dates of 1963. The oldest surviving diecast was a present of 5 December 1955, the first issue Matchbox no. 15 Prime Mover - a new model then. This year my older brother found a negative testifying of that 1955 Saint-Nicolaas eve. Zooming in I found the box of it, lying on the table in the midst of other presents! A few years later I received the new, second issue no. 15, the Rotinoff Super Atlantic Tractor as a Saint-Nicolaas present. The pictures show the birthday toys in a chronological sequence, my Dinkies of this day. I wonder if others can post a similar presentation of Christmas survivors. Kind regards, Jan
