Just received a new Dinky model in the mail this past week,
so wanted to post a few pictures. It is the French Dinky Berliet Dump Truck,
#34A. It was listed in nearly mint condition, with a matching box, so I jumped on the chance to acquire it. I had already obtained its companion, the Berliet Container Truck,, so I already had an appreciation for this nice model.I am only guessing, but this is likely the very first Dinky Toys truck to come with dual rear wheels on the tractor unit, and it sure looks great with them. It is a shame that Dinky did not incorporate those on some of the earlier models. One of my books said that the early versions of this did not come with a spare wheel or tire, although there is a space for that, and later versions did have it. Maybe Jan or Jacques has a photo showing that. The box it came with is indeed almost mint, and appears to have hardly ever been opened, as the creases are still very sharp. It would appear that this was made around 1955-1956 or so.... Terry

Richard ---very nice acquisitions! I especially like the French Studebaker truck series, and have a few myself. And that Guy Truck appears to be in very good condition, along with a nice box...congrats! Terry

Just received a couple of new Dinky models this past week,
filling in gaps in my collection up to about 1959.The first one is another that I had just neglected getting all these years,
as it was not high on my priority list. Now,
however,
I am discovering new joy in adding in some of these,
as I now feel all of the Dinky ' s
from
the 1950 ' s are worth
having,
and all still have all those wonderful traits that endure most of us to that era.It is the Muir Hill Dumper Truck,
and I was able to find an older one in mint boxed condition. This is a fairly large,
heavy toy,
with lots of play value....the driver in his seat swivels around,
and the rear dumper bed raises
and lowers,
and the front axle turns. My box has a date code
from
1953
and the color is the older yellow matching the Elevator Loader
and Goods Yard Crane.Later models I believe got lighter in color
and eventually the old steel wheels gave way to rubber tractor tires. The box is amazing
and must have been stored away for a very long time.It has not faded at all,
still bright
and crisp.All in all,
this is another very well done Dinky,
with an abundance of detail,
and I am very happy to have found such a nice one ! The other new model that arrived is the Military Ambulance #626. This was introduced in 1956, originally without a driver, then with a driver, and finally with windows. Mine appears to be from around 1957/1958. This is a heavy model for its size, due to the enclosed care area behind the cab with opening doors....kind of like a miniature Guy Van. Another nicely detailed, very solid model.
