Nineteen months ago in item #1295 I asked exactly this question and everyone agreed it should be one thread. As this never happened I guess we have to put up with it. Dave

Dave and Jacques, perhaps this division is not the most appropriate solution, but it need not be a drama either. Although there is a lot of similarity and overlap, the threads might stay like this, if used in a disciplined way. Questions and all kind of information about the real-world prototype (also eventually including photos and other pictures in general) fit best in the 'Where it came from' thread, whereas this 'Matching pictures' thread should only focus on photo similarities, as point of view is concerned, of a Dinky model photo and the real one (without further explicit discussions about the relation between them). So congruent photos should be the leading issue here, that is, in my opinion. Kind regards, Jan

I fully agree with Jan. I always assumed this Thread was devoted to the manner in which I have utilised it locate a suitable, appropriate photograph of the prototype and then photograph the Dinky model as close as possible to the angle/position of the prototype photograph. However, if someone disagrees with the choice of prototype photograph, the disagreement should NOT be within the public domain, but through email contact. As my recent discussion has been with the moderator, he has my email address and we should have had our discussion in private thus circumventing any embarrassment with either party. For others who do not have the email address, perhaps there should be a contact point for members to write their message to be forwarded through the moderator. With my posts, I have devoted considerable time in both selecting the appropriate prototype image and then further time and effort in photographing the Dinky model and finally selecting the best image. I think some folk do not understand or appreciate the effort involved which is quite disappointing. The Thread Where it Came From is more ideal as Jan has stated, with discussions about the model, why it was selected, and so forth exactly as Jan has written. Although basically both Threads can cover the same model, how each Thread is used differentiates them. The moderator should also be exercising more help when a member posts a picture of a prototype and then opens a new post for the Dinky model. This is a waste of space and drags out the discussion especially if another member immediately posts a topic before the second image can be downloaded, thus separating the two posts, prototype and Dinky. Members should be shown how to post an image, especially their size (small images do not do justice to the subject), and then when that image has been downloaded, edit that post and add the second image, and so on. I notice from the above posts, nothing appears to have happened to assist the member in question. There has also been an instance of countless, unnecessary Threads being opened and these should be tidied up.

I am very sorry to have caused such a problem. I am the only Italian member of DTCA and I opened the Matching Pictures thread with the aim of collecting information about the real life prototypes of Dinky Toys, which is sometime hard to have in my country. I beg pardon for bothering, but indeed I found many more success with this thread than with Were They Came From, which of course I tried too. Images that have been posted in Matching Pictures offered to me various occasion to exactly identify the year of production and the version of the prototype, that is all I need to fillfull my documentation. Thanks a lot for it, and greetings from Rome!

Good evening, You have a wonderful city - my family and I visited it in August 2005. No you have not caused any problems. I had hoped the moderator would have contacted you by now to give you some help in posting images to the DTCA. At times we all need a bit of assistance, and he will be able to help you improve your posts which I am sure are greatly appreciated by the members of the DTCA. I will keep an eye on this thread and despite what I have recently written, if nothing happens, I will contact him direct. We need you to continue providing your input into this website!! Kind regards Bruce (from Australia!)

That was very kind of you, Bruce. So, I go on with my questions: possible to know something about the real Berliet Stradair ? Beside it, I'm still waiting for news related to the Leyland Martian...

Sorry, I made a mess, as usual: that was also a big mistery: the LMV street cleaner. Here is the Stradair.

Cattelag, I have the answer to some of your questions : 571 - Chausson coach. The type is AP 521, it was build as a coach and Paris bus. I remember them on the line 83. Chausson was mainly a supplier of petrol tanks and radiators for other manufacturers. After absorbing Chenard et Walker, they were taken over by Peugeot and assembled the Peugeot vans series D3, D4, J7, J9 etc... I think that they were also the manufacturer of the Opel GT (French Dinky 1421). 255 - Refer to the excellent 255 posts, I would not dare to add anything. 29c - Meccano never made an ERF model. I think that the two Foden brothers did not get on very well together and as Meccano worked with one, they could not work with the other. This picture shows the main difference between the AEC and the Leyland buses. 808 - Wrong match, wrong cab. 569 - Berliet Stradair with side tipper. Photo by courtesy of the Berliet Foundation Build from 1965 until 1970, the five tonner Stradair (for Strada and air) was the first truck with air suspension which is now standard on most trucks and semi-trailers. There is a video about the Stradair on www.fondationberliet.org/la-collection/c...rliet-stradair-1965/ The cab was designed by Philippe Charbonneaux who amongst many other cars designed the Renault 16 (Dinky Toys ref. 166, 537,538). Jacques.

' have the answer to some of your questions' Thank you Jacques! Nothing about LMV? I tried my best for the BOAC, but the only thing I dug out was this:
