Not something I would have gone out and bought Jan, as this was a car we would almost never see in Britain. However, considering the amazing circumstances through which you acquired this model, it is a splendid addition to your already fine collection. Dave

Just a very small addition to Jan's excellent post as usual, the only known variation is that the inside of the bonnet may be painted or not.

Jan Thank you for sharing with us your very detailed post on the Peugeot 404 Cabriolet. Like Dave, the likes of this model never appeared on the roads in Australia, although I could be mistaken. Australia saw a resurgence of European cars in the 1950s, and then they started disappearing when Japan arrived. However, things have taken a new direction since the early 21st Century with the relaxation of import duties etc. The disappearance of the Australian motor manufacturing industry in three or so years from now will see more overseas manufacturers selling their wares in this country. But thanks for your very detailed post. Most appreciated. Kind regards Bruce

The Pininfarina factory. The body is of a Fiat 124 tourer. There were not too many of those build. In fact the car was made in Torino by Pininfarina with mechanical parts provided by Peugeot. On the same assembly line, one could see some Fiats, Alfa Romeo and even Ferraris as well as other makes made in small quantities.
