1452 Peugeot 504 berline (1977-1978)

Interesting to see these different wheels. I don't have this model, but it looks to me like they might be the same wheels as usual, but with the hubcaps missing. How do the outer rims compare on your other model?

Bruce, I have been mistaken by your pictures until Fred pointed out that these wheels had hub caps or covers which I had never noticed. Here is a picture of the same type of hubs as on your 504s on which one can see clearly the hub and the cap. Both your 504s have the same wheels, on one of your models the caps are missing and the model is incomplete and not worthy of your splendid collection. Jacques.

So what does all this state about Pilen and a new Dinky Toys hub? Does this mean the removal of what you thought was the 136th type of Dinky Toys hubs/wheel, and what is this about hub covers? I do not normally collect French Dinky Toys although I do have a very small collection purchased in recent years as in Australia French Dinky Toys were never imported into the country, unless other collectors living in one of the capital cities can advise otherwise. Although I have a number of books on French Dinky Toys, they are all in French naturally and consequently I have no idea about French Dinky Toys having hub covers. Can you please enlighten me with the situation concerning my 1452 as based on your last comments, this model is incomplete due to it having lost its hub caps, or as you have called them, hub covers. Does it also mean my other 1452 has the identical hubs but with hub covers/caps? Only one colour is known, as above, what ever this colour is. My model is as on picture 1 with DINKY TOYS written in thin caracteres. Picture 2 shows a rare model almost certainly unique in light blue on which DINKY TOYS is written in thicker letters. The question is : have the production models been made with the base plate No. 2 in the dark colour ? How is your's ? Do not mistake this 1452 for the 1415 with opening doors. Thanks for your help. I might be mistaken, but the base appears to be similar to your Type 2. , Let me know what you think. I will check out the other one I have if I can find it! Found it - it too has the same lettering as the above image. However one thing that was very noticeable is that both models have different hubs. I never noticed that before. Hi friends. Has somemember a french Dinky Toys price list of 1973 or later, with the Peugeot 504 and its reference number 011452 ? I will be very pleased to have a copy. Many thanks Richard

Richard, You have the answer to your question in your Encyclopaedia. Go to home page >>> catalogues >>> catalogues Meccano >>> France this is where almost every French Dinky Toys catalogue can be found. I think that only one is partly missing. the 1974 catalogue advertises the Peugeot 504 ref 1415 with four opening doors the 1975 catalogue is the same as the 1974 one the 1976 catalogue has the new ref 1452 Peugeot with opening bonnet and boot, no opening doors. There are several errors in the layout of the page 104 in 1977 the catalogue is the same as that of 1976 but some reference numbers have now six digits like 11 1452 the 1978 catalogue has a new lay out of the pictures but it contains an order form on which the Peugeot 504 is priced at 12.70 Frs. plus tax. At the time the VAT may have been only 5% on toys. in the 1979 catalogue, the last one to have been printed, there are no more Dinky Toys from the Calais factory, only British ones and five of the Pilen models. The very rare 2cv has been issued later.
