Jan I found your Post to be very interesting as I was unaware that the white door was firstly painted with the insignia as a transfer which then evolved to a combined sticker for both the white door and insignia. However, the PDF file has the two versions Fairlane and Cadillac as separate Topics, although Meccano never did with identifying the manufacturer's model name for some reason. The other option and the best one in my opinion is to ignore the PDF file and change the title of this Topic to the following that combines both versions into the one topic that would save readers switching from one Topic to another while dealing with virtually the same subject: -264 RCMP Patrol Car - Ford Fairlane (1962-65) and RCMP Patrol Car - Cadillac (1965-68) Notice I have changed 'Police' as on the PDF File to 'Patrol', the wording Meccano used. Kind regards Bruce H. (150) 20172505/1109/2114

Bruce-I'm happy with your comment and I totally agree with you. I've followed your recommendation and modified the title of this topic. I did not know the exact rules for creating the title of a topic. I also just received an email from Jan Werner with the explanation about this. I am very pleased with it because it is important that everyone does it at the same way. I'll just repeat here how Jan Werner explained this to me in his email.(Note: I translated it from Dutch to English)'To be able to sort properly, four positions for numbers must be used. Thus: 301 becomes -301, 27d becomes -27d, 5 becomes --- 5, 161b becomes -161b.Thus, the number of leading lines differs as the four digit positions are to be filled. The letter suffixes do not matter. Those alphabetizing themselves, those positions do not count. So -33a and -33an sort themselves well. When you want to start a new topic, you may want to look in the recommended list for a while (you can just copy it if you wish). You can find that list under Publications> PDF Library. The names of the models must be taken over in accordance with the name as used by the factory, in catalogues and the like.'Kind regards,26-5-2017 Jan Oldenhuis

Good morning Jan (It is good evening down here!) Delighted that you have changed the title of this Topic! This certainly saves Johnny, Jan W moving their Posts to the CadillacTopic! Plus it keeps all the useful information members will Post on either car in the one area. I was going to advise that two Topics should be opened until I put brain into gear and came up with that suggestion!! Actually, guidance on creating Topics can be found by opening the Forum, and then
/forums/dtca-forum]DTCA Forum
Forum Rules and Information Then Select the following Topic Forum - How To's Then it is Post #2 There is also guidance on up-loading images within the text, and a whole heap of other useful information. This website was a great learning curve for all of us as we had been previously used to the old website, but now that things have fallen into place, it is a very good site, although it is a little cumbersome in downloading images within the text, which is why most prefer adding images at the end of their Post. I encountered a slight problem with my recent 174 Hudson Hornet Topic, when something happened when I was almost finished, and I lost everything! Fortunately, I always prepare the text in Word which I copy and paste, and include the images and image number within the text, so it was relatively easy to start over again, but that meant bed was delayed by another hour! It would be nice if the preparation can be saved without the Post appearing online, and when finished completely, up-load the lot. Not sure if this actually happens with the Preview. It is really great that we have another member in you adding fascinating 'stuff' and keeping the website alive and interesting! Kind regards Bruce H. (150) 20172605/1112/2214

Today I received the 264 RCMP Cadillac Patrol Car with box. I've always been looking for this model but could not find a good example. Now I have both models of the 264 RCMP Ford Fairlane and Cadillac Patrol Car complete with box. Fortunately complete with antenna and decals that are often missing. It is a pity that Meccano Liverpool did not make a separate box for this beautiful Cadillac RCMP Patrol Car. Kind regards, Jan Oldenhuis 20-6-2017.
