Here are two of my Pullmores, there is another two-tone blue one inside the box at the rear, it only differs in that it has smooth tyres and the one on the box has treaded ones. The early 258 box sadly does not have a date code, the later 982 box is dated 1958. Dave

Dave Nice seeing a Trade Pack with the loading ramps - first I have seen! I would like to know the exact details of the inspection stamp on the inside of the box dated 1958 if I may! Herewith are some more pictures of my early 582 that was inspected in April 1953, one month before its release. Kind regards Bruce (150)

I have no spectacular new information on short notice but I wanted to show two publicity pictures on which the six rivets (well, half of it) are shown: The pre-announcement in the 1953 UK catalogue - the introduction in MM of June 1953 just did not show them anymore. A 4 page leaflet of 1954, the Flemish and French Belgian versions shown here. There is also the early all-medium blue version - some early ones in the early 1950s dark blue picture-less lid-box - and the latest one with windows. The Meccano construction system also had a Pullmore Car Transporter as an example to build, but I cannot find the picture at this moment - for others to find ... Kind regards, Jan' Jan And of course, there is the English version of the same leaflet as shown above! Kind regards Bruce

Greetings Terry You are absolutely correct in that the loading ramp that came with the later issues of the Pullmore were packaged in a sleeve and not in an end-flap box and the artwork is different. I had mine until the thing came apart and instead of gluing it back together, I remember throwing it out. Of course I was a stupid 14 year old at the time and no doubt the onset of discovering girls played a major role with that decision! You are also spot on (no not Spot-On!) with the colour, as mine has what looks like a tinge of green in it, although that is how I see it. Certainly the colour, and I have had quite a few 982 with loading ramps, does not match the light blue of the trailer. It is interesting how the decks were in a grey or mushroom colour and then with the advent of the ramp the decks remained in light blue. Possibly Meccano experimented with the grey or mushroom for the ramp and then decided to reduce the cost by eliminating the different deck colour thus leaving the ramp in blue, even if it did not match. Perhaps the different metals may have had some reaction over the years causing a change in colour. (I feel someone will denounce this hypothesis resoundingly!!  ) Although the more I think of it, at the time, I never noticed any difference with the light blue of the ramp and the light blue of the trailer. I noticed this older thread or post on the Pullmore Transporters, and saw the the photo with the Loading Ramps in individual boxes, along side the trade box they were shipped in. I have an older Loading Ramp, but it is in a sleeve, instead of a box, and am guessing that is because it came with the Transporter, instead of being purchased separately? The graphics are similar, but done in black instead of white. I have also noticed that most of these ramps do not closely match the color of the transporter. Regards, Terry

Here is my example of the 1954-only issued darker blue version. It has '582' cast under the trailer and 'Dinky Toys' stamped on the tractor baseplate. Although it has moderate play wear, it was very cheap indeed and is probably the scarcest version of 582/982.
