Richard is a member of the 'club' he will answer about the magazine when he will be back, he is probably away on some trip. I do not know if the magazine is still produced, Guy has also made some sort of an 'encyclopaedia' poorly printed. I have seen some sample pages and was amazed that somebody could issue such garbage. Hi Bruce. Yes, it is. The club is still operating and the Dinky magazine is always full of good informations. I had co-operated a lot with Guy to give him informations on the paint manufacturer, on the presidential DS Citro

Hello Richard Thank you for your response - nice to see a well balanced assessment, as I had a very nice semi-professional association with Guy, but unfortunately with the onset of other things, he has slipped off the radar so to speak. Kind regards Bruce

Regards, Jan' Jan Considering the Dinky Toys 39e Chrysler Royal Sedan was made as a toy, I think Meccano got its shape reasonably well, including the front windscreen. Of course for the purist, the bonnet and roof could have been curved a little more, the windscreens slightly wider reducing the thickness of the A pillar, the headlights should be higher on the mudguards, over-riders added to the front bumper with the bumper in front of the grille slightly lower, plus other minor refinements. However, overall, I think it is a wonderful toy which very closely resembles the real car as shown by the accompanying photograph. I am also adding a few more pictures including four of the many advertisements when the model was released. The drawings show much artistic licence in a similar fashion to the Dinky mock-up and catalogue drawings. Kind regards Bruce

Bruce, I have never seen such a nice pictorial comparison of the 39e Chrysler and its 1:1 prototype. Thank you! This means that Meccano made a considerable improvement to the windows section in the process from mock-up to production model. Kind regards, Jan

It did take me many images to finally come up with one that almost matches the photograph. The focal length had a lot to do with subtle changes, but I am quite pleased with the result. Most certainly, Meccano did a lot of tweaking between the wooden mock-up and the final result. Wouldn't it be nice if the original drawing was still around! Kind regards, Bruce

Several chrome plated Dinky Toys are known : 39e Chrysler Royale, 135 Triumph 2000 925 Leyland dump truck with tilt cab. What were they exactly ? Code 3 ? Promotionnals ? else ? There is some info on the 925 Leyland dump truck with tilt cab thread.

Greetings all, At a recent auction conducted by Clevedon Salerooms in Bristol, I tried to add an unusual 39e Chrysler Royal Sedan to my collection. I state 'unusual' as I have not previously seen reference to this version, although I could very well be wrong. The model has a silvered base plate, smooth hubs, and small treaded tyres. Has anyone seen this version before? It may be one of those 'unique' examples, as my competitor was very quick to beat my bid each time I raised his! I gave it way when it came to my bid of 200 for the lot that also contained a 39c Lincoln Zephyr as I was keen on two other lots and had to keep my spending down to a 'reasonable' level in case I have some explaining to do!!! Kind regards to you all, and a Merry Christmas. (We are off to Finland early next month to have our first White Christmas!) Kind regards Bruce H. (150) 20161122/1045/1805

Hello Bruce, the latest Model Collector of December happens to contain a considerable, well-illustrated overview of the 39 series, by Clive Unsworth. So I presume the colours as shown on page 46-47 represent the 'state of the art', the colours known up till now. The colour in question isn't shown there, so I presume it's scarce. A quick scan below. Kind regards, Jan (By the way, I know Finnish people who fly/flee to the Mediterranean in this season each year, but I can imagine that a White Christmas is a rare experience for you, have a nice holiday!) P.S.: it's only now that I am aware that a Buick got lost in the midst of the Chryslers!

Bruce----Certainly a very interesting Chrysler, and a pity you ran up against a very determined bidder.....that would have been a nice one to acquire! I only have one example, but one of my first purchases from H. Hudson Dobson back in 1958. They still had a few 'new old stock' Dinky's kicking around, and I managed to get one.....for the original price of $.85. It is not mint, but still in wonderful condition after almost 60 years of ownership, and I always liked this model. And also wishing you a Merry Christmas.....in far away Finland.....that should an enjoyable trip for sure! Best regards, Terry
