Hi Gents, Got this A40 at Xmas, never seen this colour on a Devon before, pretty much the same as the Vanguard... I'm not even going there in suggesting a name for the shade of blue...... :lol:Chris Warr.

Hi Chris, have a look in DT&MM and you will see examples on page 133. Because of the flash the exact shade of your example is hard to tell, but have a look on the internet (illustrations Dinky Austin Devon) and you will find quite a few that seem to match the colour shade of your example quite well! Kind regards, Jan

It is not dissimilar to the shade of blue used for the 40j/161 Austin Somerset the darker blue is much more common on the Devon. Ramsay's lists this as the scarcest variation of the Austin Devon saloon. Dave

Lovely set of A40's there Richard, only got 8 of them so far,a few more still to go. The different two toning on the rears is always hard to remember which is which when I'm going through models at a fair. CW.

As it seems that I am not the only one interested by the austin Devon my fascination for the variants allow me to present you the result of my study on this item. (cars only, not the boxes). For me there are, at least, 3 different transformations in the Austin Devon shape. First shape : Base plate with 'small letters' and smooth inside roof ; that's concerning the Red body and wheels and the brown red body and wheels items Second shape : Base plate with 'big letters' and smooth inside roof ; that's concerning the Fawn body and green wheels model Third shape : Base plate with 'big letters' and DEVON carved on the inside roof ; that's concerning the following item : -Green body with fawn wheels -Green body with cream wheels -Dark blue with blue wheels -Light blue body and wheels -light green body and wheels -Light green with fawn wheels -All the two colours items. All the above colours are on the above photo but I think that, for the first shape we can find 3 others colours combinations as : -Light green body and wheels -Dark blue and blue wheels -Red with brown wheels All the first shape are numbered 40D For the second shape, I have no other informations on variants; I don't know if it's a 40D or a 152 reference. For the third shape, there is an another exemplar in Fawn with green wheels. All those are numbered 152 Has somebody other informations or varaints ? I will be very pleased to read you. Good evening everybody. Richard

Great info Richard, I'll have to look and see what I've got, Here's an older picture anyway, doesn't include the light blue at the front of this post. To be honest I don't look at anything except body and hub colours. These are the ones I still have on my wants list: Austin Devon. (7). Two Tone : Yellow & Blue / Rear Lights covered in Blue Two Tone : Pink & Green / Rear Lights not covered in Green Dark Green, Cream Hubs Grey / Green, Grey / Green hubs Light Green, Light Green Hubs Light Green, Maroon Hubs Maroon, Red Hubs I know it's difficult to name the shades, I call the murky mid green 'Grey/green' as it seems to have a grey tinge to it to me! Thank you Chris. For both of my two tones yellow/blue, the rear lights are painted in red. Behind your devon I can see the very nice Rover 75. I like this car very much. There are also, a lot of variants ! Is there a special Rover 75 post ? Jan , it's perhaps the only one, but it's a very nice one ! Friendly yours. Richard
