Anything in London of interest? was created by torb
I will be in London the first week of May. Are there any museums or other exhibits (or shops) that would be of interest to a Dinky collector? How about Southampton? Thanks!

Maybe try the V & A museum of Childhood in Hackney. Also,
although I have never been,
there is a shop in Winchmore Hill called Past,
Present Toys.Have a look
and see if there are any Swapmeets in
or around London,
Sandown Park is sometime in May
and only a short train journey out of London.Sadly not sure there are any collector shops left trading in London now ? Hope this helps,
regards,
Finja.

Hi Robert 1.If you are in Southampton
and have a car,
the Beaulieu (pronounce bioulee) National Motor Museum * * * * is not far.In London there is the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden. If you are interested in industrial archelogy,
on saturday morning you can visit the Kew pumping station which has two of the largest Cornish engines of dia 100 in.
and 98 in.(
these are very impresive things that you can not see in America
)
and the great green house at Kew gardens just across the river. Also the engine room of Tower bridge under the bridge on the south side.Barry Potter ' s toy fair on May 4 will be in Horwich,
God knows
where
that is but certainly nowhere near L ' don. There will also be swapmeets on the same day at Newton Abott
and Worthing
and on the 6 th.in Rugby. There is not much about Dinky Toys in all that,
I do not know about any Dinky dealer in L ' don
or any museum. There used to be a dealer in Greenwhich but he moved
or closed some years ago.Have a good trip.Jacques.
