Dave K The above icon 'Image' does not work with attaching an image from one's own computer. However, the screen that popped up which I did not want as it brought me back to the Home Page could not be removed. I 'cancelled' it, I tried all sorts of tricks but the damn thing remained in place. I could not return to where I am typing this now. The only way was to close the page and start over again, thus losing my text. How come the ADD NEW COMMENT does not have the facility to add an image? Bruce

Hi Dave Kaun and all, it's only now, six days after I posted here on 7 July, that I discovered that this discussion, following that post, continued! I received no notification mail at all (and never have!). I still do not understand the sequence of the posts presented. Is this a thead or a mix of various subjects presented chronologically? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am eager to know, of course. Kind regards, Jan

Jan I had a terrible time registering first! I was 'blocked' and it was only requesting a new password and typing in the old one was I registered. I then found that I had already been registered a day ago! As for my first post in this Thread I wanted to see how the new website operated, and post my story of the El Camino that was about to go onto the old website. One thing I found was the impossibility to copy text from a previously prepared text in Word or draft email message and paste it as the first post in the 449 Thread. The second problem was typing text, adding a picture and then go back and continue the text below the first image and then attach the second image, as a continuous story, in the same manner I used in the old website. Of course there must be something that I am not doing correctly so perhaps a tutorial would not go astray! There is also a glitch in the letters appearing as I have been typing this, with many letters missing that I have to go back and correct. Also when one has a spelling mistake caused by a missing letter, right click does not bring up suggested corrections. Double click does not highlight the error either. As yu rightly pointed out, the black and wite image (there it goes again!) i cropped, ad yet the first ime it was 800 so I went back and postdthe img as 640, both sizes acceptable with the old site. Strag tha he oter imags are all acceptale andhaenot een noticealy cropped. This is terribl wen one is typing and lettrs do not appear! I will re-type very slowly and correct the above. As you rightly pointed out, the black and white image is cropped, and yet the first time it was 800 so I went back and posted the image at 640, both sizes acceptable on the old site. Strange that the other images are all acceptable and have not been noticeably cropped. This is terrible when one is typing and letters do not appear. With that re-typing, obviously I type too fast for the site! Wait until I tell my wife that I am now faster than a computer! Cheers Bruce

The following was to have appeared after the first image of the 1957 Ford Ranchero: In fact the concept goes back to 1932 when Ford Australia received a request from a farmer for a vehicle in which he can take his wife to church on Sundays and pigs to market on Mondays. Ford Australia undertook to supply such a vehicle which was referred to as a utility coupe; that is a coupe or two door vehicle which served two purposes. The term utility was always retained by Ford and later Holden to describe what became known in North America as a utility pick-up truck. Production of the Ford Utility in Australia commenced in 1934. A total of 21,706 Ford Rancheros were made in 1957 during its first year of production. The 1958 version remained basically unchanged under the engine bonnet but included a new front design that had been the inspiration of the Ford Thunderbird, dual headlights as well a change to the side chrome flash. By now, the Ford Ranchero had become a very popular vehicle. With the following after the second image: The 1959 model was built with the same 118 in wheelbase as all 1959 Fords, giving the Ranchero the advantage over its predecessors of a new, longer 7 foot cargo bed. The Custom Ranchero was the only model marketed in 1959 and was offered in 26 colors (eleven solid shades, eleven two-tone combinations with white on top, and four other two-tone choices including red and white). CAN ANYONE ASSIST ME IN BEING ABLE TO ADD IMAGES AS I TYPE, AND ALSO WHAT IS THE EASY MEANS OF COPYING FROM A PREVIOUSLY PREPARED TEXT AND ADDING IT AND PHOTOGRAPHS IN A CONTINUOUS PROCESS??

I am uncertain why this topic is titled The story of the Chevrolet El Camino as when I posted my first comment on page 1, I was in a Post titled 449 CHEVROLET EL CAMINO 1961-1969, which asked to provide a title for the discussion. So what became of the original Post, may I ask? I am too confused, as the Posts are almost identical to the old website. I have made some changes to the photographs and my original article. Also, the period of availability of this model should read 1961 to 1968

The new/old forum integration happened on Monday and some weirdness was unfortunately inevitable because the two things were so different. Because the forum was in a barely usable condition, it seemed important to press ahead with the merger and tidy any loose ends in the aftermath. So you may find a small number of your threads have been split up - but those fragments should all be here somewhere. Since it's an ongoing discussion, I will try to pull all the bits of this thread together again. I have pulled all the bits together again and updated the title.Previously this website had a forum of forums... a great long list of forums, each dedicated to a single model. So this post was originally made in a forum called '449 Chevrolet El Camino Pick-up Truck, 1961-1969' with the topic title 'The story behind the Dinky Toys Chevrolet El Camino'. However, on Monday, I swept that whole forum structure away because it was too sloooooow and so there are now only three forums - British Dinky Toys, French Dinky Toys, and General Topics. This thread was moved into the new British Dinky Toys forum, keeping the topic title. Probably I was moving data between posting edits and obviously missed a chunk.
