Hello Dave, I can answer this one. Unfortunately I can't say exactly how much the club gets - but it will get all the advertising revenue, which will help to cover running costs and contribute towards keeping back the tide of inflation from subscriptions. I'm keeping an eye on the metrics. The ads have been running for 30 days now - not really long enough to make any confident forward projections, especially given that there is a factor of rising traffic due to ongoing optimisation work. However, I'm guesstimating an annual club income of between 80-100. The ads are run by google which tracks your search patterns and offers up product ads based on what it feels matches your interests. Because I sniff around ebay for Dinky Toys, like you, I tends to see ads for ebay. But I also see ads from sellers of software and computer components because I search for those things also. Others might see ads for holidays, insurance, groceries, electronics... whatever is related to their google searches. So now the question is what the members feel about the presence of these ad spots.

Thank for the info Al. As long as the DTCA gets something it's fine with me. I hoped that Google had not done something sneaky. Dave

Hello David, the advert you're showing here is for a dating website. It isn't quite the same thing as sex for sale. Of course I can see it isn't really appropriate advertising for the website. Google is something of a tiger when it comes to matching adverts with your innocent searches for 'old british models' - and it obviously needs some taming. Hopefully I have now dismissed the soho underbelly from the advert selector - but please let me know if any other unexpected propositions pop up. al
