Splendid capture Terry with a complete box ! It would be interesting if you could put a photo in the Pullmore thread. That will add a good information on this beautiful truck. Kind regards. Richard

A very nice example + box indeed, Terry! Here is mine, and it's striking to see that all colour shades of the loading area's seem to be different. Terry's very dark, Dave's more greyish and mine a kind of medium buff.
As you see my box is numbered 982 already, although the number cast underneath is 582. The box is in a rather poor condition.
My subsequent two-tone version has the same 982 box (with the model in all pale blue on it, with differently coloured loading strips), and it still has the number 582 cast in down under. Kind regards, Jan

Hi Bruce, well, Meccano France did so too in some instances, but in the case below it wasn't necessary at all, because they never produced the Fork Lift Truck in a colour different from the illustration!
By the way, a new arrival today, the Triumph TR2 in civilian finish. I had no Triumph at all until today, neither sports nor civilian.
I like this modestly coloured one best of all Triumph versions available. I find the pink one the most horrible. So, I'm very happy with this addition! Regards, Jan

Hi Bruce. I don't think they change the colour of the truck on the box because both were yellow. Look at the Chrysler Newyorker with its yellow box and a red Chrysler on one side and a yellow one on the other side. Friendly yours. Richard

I think that as often, the colour of the drawing on the boxes and catalogues are the colours of the mock-up. There is one known exception, the 976 Michigan tractor dozer for which we know why the drawings on the box is different from the production models. Grahame Millers who was Promotions Manager at Michigan GB in Camberley Surrey explained on TMT : 'I was responsible for the model being made by Meccano. The company had to pay

Richard' Hello Richard It was just a thought, although Meccano could have done the same with the box as it did for the Fork Lift as shown in the picture above submitted by Jan with the white effect surrounding the drawing. The examples you have indicated are similar to the English models in yellow. But your point is taken. We are all grasping for a reason the model was never painted in the colour scheme depicted on the box. Kind regards Bruce

Jacques The Singer Vogue may very well be an exception, as two original 145 Singer Vogue models have been sold through an auction house here in Australia, one in Sydney, mint and boxed, with its authenticity verified by a long-standing Dinky collector, and the other in Melbourne, slightly chipped to chipped, but again authenticated. A pity both my bids were below their final price! So it is possible a limited number were produced before the colour was switched to metallic green. Interestingly, the Melbourne example was described as pale yellow, and someone, later told me the colour was almost white, and it did not have any appearance of it being sun-faded as the same colour was underneath. It is unfortunate that I have no colour images of both models, so I presume we will have to continue along the line that none were ever produced in yellow, or pale yellow, unless these examples come back onto the market again in the future. The auctions took place in the late 1990s. Kind regards Bruce PS Have we not wandered off the subject of this thread 'New Arrivals'??!!!

Bruce, The two models sold in Australia may have been factory colour samples made on pilot lot (pre-prod) models. Richard is the expert for colour samples and haw they were made. There are several examples of colour samples known of the same colour as the boxes and catalogues drawings. I would have to look for them.
