Johnny, The text 'LIFT-UP ENGINE HOOD' means that this card was probably planed for exports but as these cards are not printed with the either the marque DINKY or DINKY TOYS they must be fakes. There is no evidence that this and other similar cards have been made by or for Meccano Ltd. incidentaly it is useless. Try to put it around the base of a cristal box. There are similar cards for the E type Jaguar, Jensen FF and the De Tomaso Mangusta and perhaps other ones. Why are there three cards for English DINKY and only one for a French DINKY which was never packed in a cristal box and was not fited with folding seats backs ? BUYERS BEWARE Anyway, very nice Ferrari and pumps Jacques

The card is labeled with the marque, stating 'Start a Dinky Toys collection' at lower right. But yes, the card is probably spurious, given that the detailed base of the Ferrari would have to have been retooled to incorporate fixing points for the crystal box. And if they were planning to sell the model in the UK, why still with the French sales number? If a fake, it is well done, however, on the right kind of period paper ...

Some additions of the past few weeks below. The blue/grey Dodge Rear Tipping Wagon is a mint/unboxed replacement for a poorer example which I sold ten years ago. The Leyland Forward Control Lorry is a new, fourth, colour version. It is in very fine near mint condition and, being a 25R, it was always unboxed. The 1:1250 Wiking ship model in the foreground represents the battleship USS New Mexico. Early 1941 it was based at Pearl Harbour, but was transferred to the Atlantic fleet on 20 May, thus escaping the Pearl Harbour disaster of 7 December 1941. An addition I have been looking out for since many years is the no. 701 Shetland Flying Boat, belonging to the earliest Dinky Supertoys, which only lasted from 1947 to 1949. The unboxed model can be rated as 'very good'. A very nice and complete affordable example, which is good enough to fill the final gap in my range of post-war aeroplanes. It will certainly benefit from some cleaning. For the photo I have provisionally parked it in a section with pre- and early post-war models, for the time being. Kind regards, Jan

Arrived last week: a proof copy of my private hard cover printed annual catalogue supplement. After checking I am very happy with the result and ordered some more copies yesterday. In all 85 pages, including my annual report over 2020 and the new additions in pictures and comments. I wonder, do others compile similar collection registrations too? Kind regards, Jan
