There are still some empty threads. This Van was designed before the war by Chenard et Walcker. It was fited with a two stroke two cylinders liquid cooled engine. In 1936 Chausson a susidary of Peugeot bought Chenard et Walcker. Chausson was a susidary of Peugeot. After the war, the van has been re-issued and fitted with a Peugeot 202 four cylinder engine. As this engine is longer than the original two cylinders one, the grille ihas been moved forward. Later the van was fitted with a 203 engine and was named D3A the figure 3 is from 203. Even later the 403 engine was used and the name became D4A. Many parts were from the Peugeot cars. For unknowned reasons the Mazda van was short lived. Issued in November 1953, It was in the 1953 catalogue but not in the 1954 one. The model is typical of the Dinky Toys of the 50s without any gimmicks, only a one piece casting, a glossy tin plate baseplate embossed with the reference number 25B, four ridged wheels and two axles. The ceiling was always smooth, the rivet pilar has been enlarged some time. I am looking for detailed pictures of this variation to prove that it was made. Has some one got pictures of a dismantled van ?Kind reardsJacques

Well done Jan, a mint boxed example which looks great.May I add to my previous post that this van and the Simca Aronde ref; 24u are the first two French Dinky Toys to have been packed in yellow boxes and to have their reference number embossed in their base plate. Vincent Espinasse owns the wooden mock-up.
