562h Wegenwacht 2 CV Citroen Citroen 2 CV ANWB Wegenwacht Van (1965-1968) was created by dinkycollect
I have been doing some work on this model which does not match the real vehicle. The Dinky Toys is a Citron 2cv type AZU but the ANWB never owned any of these vans. The model which they had was the 3cv type AK350.
My problem is that the box is printed in Dutch which is a language that I can not read. Could some one please offer a translation ?I would also like to know the meaning of 'Besteleend' which seem to be the Dutch nickname for the 2cv. Thanks for your help. Jacques.

Hi Jacques, a quick translation: Besides the well-known Wegenwacht motor-cycle combinations a number of Wegenwacht 2CV cars do patrol work as well. These bright yellow ugly ducks have a bigger selection of tools, spare parts, first aid attributes etc. at their disposal, and are an important addition to the W.W. system. Lelijke Eend (Ugly Duck) is the Dutch nick name for the 2cv,, called Bestel Eend (Duck Van) is case of a van like this. Kind regards, Jan

Jan,Many thanks for your help with the translation of the box and Ragnar thank you for providing pictures of the early type AZU vans. My post above is wrong, the ANWB did own some AZU vans.

Not just 'some' AZU vans, Jacques, in the course of 1960 these vans completely replaced all ANWB Wegenwacht motor cycle combinations in service. The yellow vans were a very familiar sight on the Dutch motorways during the 1960s.

Jan I have been misled with various information and my ignorance of the Dutch language. Now I know that the ANWB used all the types of the 2 / 3 cv vans, the AZU, AK 350 and AK 400. Also that the logo with Wegenwacht should be on the roof and the logos on the doors should be without Wegenwacht.Once more Roulet is wrong about the very rare variation of the 560 H with logo on the roof. For our Dinky work, we are only concerned with the AZU which is the Dinky 25D, 560, 560H and three variations without references. Jacques.

The April 2016 issue of the ANWB monthly 'Kampioen' fell on my door matt today. it's a jubilee issue, commemorating 70 years of Wegenwacht service. Two motor cycle combinations and four van types cover the period until the end of Meccano Dinky Toys. The four vans (+ a Volkswagen Golf Van (1978-1982)) will be issued by ANWB in the course of the year on 1/43 scale. Kind regards, Jan

Terry, I'm not familiar with your USA Auto Club. However, our Dutch ANWB, especially its patrols, are very similar to the British AA format. The 'Wegenwacht' ,with their initial motor cycle combinations, were organized (immediately post-war) along the lines of the British AA patrols. Kind regards, Jan

I understand this is a pretty rare car to obtain in nick condition. Isn't it? I saw some on a selling site in the Netherlands but all in used condition. I believe the box is even rarer.
