A nice photo of the green/black colour version, the most common but still my favourite. The floodlight makes the surface irregularities look worse than they are in reality! In several catalogues I found a remarkable decrease in Dutch prices (f or fl = Dutch Guilders) of this model in the period 1957-1959. 3,90 in the combined Belgian - Dutch Dinky Toys catalogue of 1957 3,45 in the Hausemann & Hotte 'Het Speelgoedboek' of 1958 2,90 in the Dutch Dinky Toys catalogue of 1959 Do other than Dutch catalogues reflect the same trend? It was usual to sell the Dinkys at a high launching price as most people would buy in the launching week. Later the price would go down.

Hi Jacques, I haven't checked the development of prices of other models and I am not extremely familiar with the French trends in this respect. The impression that I have is that British models never got cheaper, with the exception of the immediately post-1952 fall (due to the fall of metal prices and possibly the more efficient production at Speke). From then on prices rose again with inflation. As far as I can oversee is that when models became almost obsolete, the prices did not rise anymore, became stable, but did not go down. If prices decreased occasionally, could not that just have been restricted to individual shops having a 'sale'? I cannot imagine that they were included in the official catalogues. But I am contradicting myself, as my case of this Plymouth Belvedere confirms! As a bonus a nice picture of the similar real Plymouth 4-door sedan, as found on the internet. Kind regards, Jan

Jan--Very nice example of the Plymouth.....I also prefer the green color, but my only example came from H.Hudson Dobson, around 1959, and you had no choice of color when ordering through the mail, so I ended up with the grey version. To me, it was just an ok model.....not as nice as many other French models of that era. I am going back and trying to restore images of those old posts that had used Photobucket. Best regards, Terry

Dear Jan Thank you for the picture of the Belvedere saloon but this is the wrong model as Meccano made the coupe, not the saloon. So here is a photo of the coupe. The ceiling of the plot lot models was smooth, the early production models were cross-hatched and a cross (flow chanels, not reinforcements) was soon added. As shown on the table below there are several variations with the colours, wheel hubs and ceiling. And here is the rare blue / white one.
