It is either an International-Harvester or a Reo. Definitely not a GMC. Jacques H.

If Dave says so, you can be sure it is the right answer! While in the military in the IDF - Israel Defense Forces - I was a mechanic on these vehicles - albeit different versions - and they were either IH or Reo, with subtle differences in the front grille only. In short, outstanding trucks which are still waiting for a successor!! American Motors produced the newer batches, all Diesel powered by Cummins, whereas IH and Reo had huge 6-cyl. petrol engines getting as many as 6 miles to the gallon...( 38 l/100km...)Their all-terrain capabilities at full load was unbelievable, city driving...also!! Nostalgy, nostalgy... Jacques H.

Yes they are IH. One is preserved at the Imperial war Museum in Dexford (Cambs) and one I think in the Royal Artillery Museum In Woolwich (London). Unfortunately both are badly light and can not be photographed.

What Jacques says is absolutely right, I visited the Firepower Museum in Woolwich earlier this year and the Honest John they have is stuck in a awkward corner of an almost totally dark room!! I have not been to Duxford for about 25 years and I will be visiting in the next few months. I will try to get a photo of it. Dave

Many prototypes of Dinky models are kept in Duxford. From memory : in the military building at the very far end are : a split ferret a Centurion on it's Antar transporter Dinky 698 an IH Honest john missile launcher Dinky 665 an anti tank gun Dinky 617 a Bedford QL Dinky 623 you can get a ride in a Scorpion Dinky 690 and other tracked vehicles which I can not remember In the first building are a Concord not issued as Dinky an Avro York Dinky 704 I think a Gloster Meteor In other buildings one can see a wrecked Me 109 several Spitfires a Gloster Javelin the searchlight for the Dinky 161a Outside are a B 17 Viscount Comet etc... There are many other items, the master piece is probably a full size B 52. Duxford is very accessible, two minutes from the M11, it is well worth a visit, four hours is the minimum time required for the visit.
