DTCA AGM 1st July 2017

Hi all, it was rather disappointing for me (and no doubt many others) to learn a few months ago that the Donington Park Barry Potter Toy Fairs, as scheduled for this year, have been cancelled immediately and forever, because the new owners of Donington Park changed their policy in this respect. This event was always a nice, attractive completion of the AGM weekends in Derby. This sad discontinuation almost prevented me from attending this year, until David Cooke advised that a nearby event might serve as a provisional AGM weekend attraction this time, which seems quite exciting to me. No doubt the board will look out for a new Dinky Toy event to combine with the AGM's in the future. In the events header you will find the slightly adjusted AGM information, as copied below:

The date for the 2017 DTCA AGM will be Saturday, 1st July 2017, at the usual venue, the Hallmark Inn, Midland Road, Derby DE1 2SL, U.K. (close to the Derby Midland Railway Station). It is anticipated that the usual facilities will be available to DTCA members. Overnight hotel accommodation is at the Hallmark Midland Hotel or the Hallmark Midland Inn and will be available for the nights of Friday 30th June and Saturday 1st July. There is a car park at both locations. The Hallmark Inn DB&B rate of46.50 per person is available for Fri. and or Sat. nights. For those wishing to stay in the Hallmark Midland Hotel DB&B is66.Tables will be available in the meeting area all day on Saturday for members wishing to display or sell models - one table per member - table bookings to Robin Narborough.For further details, or if members have any queries, please, contact the Secretary, Robin Narborough. N.B.: Unfortunately, the new owners at Donington Park have other plans for the Exhibition Centre, so it can no longer be used for events like toyfairs, so there will be no more Barry Potter Fairs Toy Collectors' Fair at Donington Park and this year's July and October dates have been cancelled. This means that there cannot be the usual concession of half-price 'Early Bird' entry which DTCA members have previously enjoyed, on Sunday, 2nd July, the day after the AGM.
