Hi, I'm afraid I don't have access to my Journals. I note from the 2013 AGM minutes that 'following the meeting, there were a number of Dinky displays, including sales tables, with several presentations by members on different aspects of collecting Dinky toys'...and also:PLEASE NOTE, THE DTCA 2014 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING WEEKEND WILL AGAIN BE HELD AT THE MIDLAND & HALLMARK HOTELS, Midland Road, Derby, on FRIDAY 20TH & SATURDAY 21ST JUNE 2014, AND FULL DETAILS WILL ACCOMPANY THE JANUARY 2014 JOURNAL.Will the format for 2014 be as for 2013? Why was the date shown as 20/6/14 AND 21/6/14? Would it be ok for a friend to attend the post AGM displays etc? Thanks,Stephen

Hi Stephen,
I haven ' t got the exact programme at my disposal either at this moment,
but the general pattern is arrival of quite some members on Friday afternoon (20),
AGM on Saturday morning (21)
and discussion on a certain issue in the afternoon. This combined with a modest members ' swap meet
and displays in the same room.DTCA dinner
and speaker in the evening.Sunday morning (22) there is a reduced price DTCA visit to the Donington Park swap meet.http: / / www.bpfairs.com / fairs.php ? fair = 24 (Please correct me if I ' m wrong !).In earlier years there was ample opportunity in the schedule to do presentations
and lectures - which I often did with much pleasure - but somehow the board did not succeed to fit that in anymore.Kind regards,
Jan

Back home
from
Derby I can communicate that we had a wonderful DTCA weekend - as Dave Busfield can confirm (see the Journal thread).Always a nice reunion of like - minded Dinky enthusiasts,
with plenty of opportunities to chat,
exchange the latest news
and show Dinky stuff.Dave reported already that there will be a firmer Mutual connection between the Dinky Forum
and The Journal. It was also decided i.a.that the block of lectures we had during the initial AGM ' s will be re - established,
contributing even more to a varied
and attractive DTCA weekend.I did not take many photos,
neither of the AGM nor of the big Donington Park Toy Fair that was included (just see their website). Some related pictures anyway: I couldn ' t help taking this one of the nice taxi - arrangement opposite my hotel room: This one I found on the internet,
showing the start of the 1937 Donington Park Grand - Prix (the circuit next to the toy venue). The spectacular race was dominated by Mercedes - Benz
and Auto
Union,
both reflected in the pre - war Dinky Toys range (
23c
and 23d
): One Dinky acquisition to be noted,
the rather short - lived,
scarce 1947 -1948 civilian version of the Jeep,
no.25j:
And a Tri - ang Queen Mary for the give - away price of 5 pounds,
the masts missing,
which is no problem because I had the intention for a long time to find a cheap ' wreck ' for conversion into the grey troop - carrier version. In fact it is everything
except
a ' wreck ': Kind regards,
Jan

Jan --Thanks for the report on the 2014 AGM, and it appears that they will renew having lectures and presentations, which sound very nice to include. I sure hope to make it over for this some time in the future, and being able to meet many other members. Also love your new Jeep. As is usual, it is in wonderful shape. I have the same one, also in red, but with later blue wheels. I have always thought it was one of Mecanno's best efforts at replicating an exact model of a real car.Terry
