Is this a Dinky Toys Figure?

HI Attached is a figure of a Policeman on traffic duty standing on a rotating base. I acquired this in recent job lot of figures but I'm unable to find any reference to it in any Dinky Toys literature. I suspect it's not DT and probably Corgi but the face is very similar to the male Petrol Pump Attendant in set 007 and the size is almost identical. There are no manufacturers marks. Any clarification would be appreciated and my apologies in advance if I've commited a Forum 'No No' by posting a picture of a non-Dinky Toys product.Stuart Judd

It is Corgi Toys. It was included in Gift Set 35, London Passenger Transport Set and is described in Marcel Van Kleemput's Book, the Great Book of Corgi Toys on page 158, Plate 299. He describes it as 'policeman figure on point duty standing on a dais'. The set was introduced in 1964 and withdrawn in 1968. Only 81,000 were sold which is a low number for Corgi Toys. It is probably quite hard to find for a Corgi Toys collector. I thought at first it was similar to the Dinky Toys 753 Police Controlled Crossing, but as can be seen from the picture the figues is quite different and doesn't have the gearing around to make it rotate.

Hi Peter Thanks, looks like you confirmed my suspicions but I couldn't find a suitable Corgi reference online. I'm not a Corgi afficiando!! I checked my #753 too and yes that is very different, I wondered whether it was from a late Dinky Toys set but none were evident. Thanks for clarifying Stuart
