298 Emergency Services Gift Set (1963-66) was created by dinkycollect
Some one tells me that this is a variation of the original 298 set of four models with : 007 Petrol pump attendants. 008 Fire Station Personnel. 263 Superior Criterion Ambulance. 276 Airport fire tender. 277 Superior Criterion Ambulance. 258 Ford Fairlane USA Police car. As I have never seen this one, can some one confirm that it has been issued by Meccano ? I think not.

Jacques. This model was sold by Vectis on 10 September 2009 for GBP 380. I have looked for more photos and on all the photos I have seen, only 4 vehicles are added to the Set instead of 5. The 434 Bedford TK Crash Truck is not shown in any other set that I found, while on all photos personnel has been added to the set, missing in this set. I think the previous owner added the Bedford Truck to the Set in the absence of personnel.Kind regards, Jan O.

Jan Thank you for your answear which confirms what I thought. Unfortunately, my Mac is too old and I do not have access to the Vectis web site any more. I am considering an investment into a new Mac shortly.Kind regards Jacques.

I found this picture in my files, taken during the Namac's 40th anniversary exhibition in the town hall of The Hague in 2005. It is a nice view of an example with the correct contents in my opinion. A high quality item from Paul Majoor's collection. In DT&MM (p. 206) an example is shown with the no. 256 (Humber Hawk) Police Patrol Car, apparently used as a stand-in. Kind regards, Jan
