Dave K. (and Al K for your information)., This Post and the previous one from STARN1999 is incomplete. Can you please check the old website and bring forward the remainder of these two Posts? Many thanks. Kind regards Bruce (150) 23 December 2015

For those who may be slightly interested, Posts 12 and 13 above are both incomplete, having been a victim of some sort of 'electronic conspiracy' before or during the transfer process from the old website to this site. The following is my Post 13 in its entirety which also completes Chris's Post 12: STARNI999 wrote: Nice one Bruce, Good to see all the Gift sets compared. weren't they expensive though? I presume the prices are shown as 57s/11d for example, rather than 2/17s/11d as a way of making them seem cheaper! A few years later in 1969 15d was my money for a week! Chris Warr. Talking of blissful ignorance, last year I bid on, won and eagerly awaited a 501 Foden, unpacking it, cleaning it, and putting it in the cabinet where, you guessed it, I already had one identical bought a few years ago. Hello Chris It always seemed the practice with Meccano to quote their prices in shillings and pence rather than pounds, shillings and pence. As you wrote, it could have been a marketing ploy that the shillings and pence makes them appear not as expensive without the pound symbol. Actually, in checking through many price lists, magazines, etc, Meccano did frequently use the pound symbol, but in most cases it was just shillings and pence. With you discovering the identical Foden, you can always send the duplicate Down Under!! However referring to the announcement of the six Gift Sets and the image I included in my last post, I have just noticed that the title was DINKY TOYS & SUPERTOYS Gift Sets, when none of the sets are marked DINKY SUPERTOYS! The only set containing Supertoys was the 900 Site Building Set so I presume that is the only reason to include Supertoys in the title! It is amazing how the obvious is not obvious!
