Most probably the catalogue number 105d was meant to be used for the Extension Ladder, which seems to fit well into the group of large scale garden tools etc. This is no invention of mine, it was already supposed (with a question mark) by the Richardsons in Dinky Toys & Modelled Miniatures, p. 248. Additional evidence is to be found in the Dinky Toy Job List Index, which seems to have been maintained until the early 1950s. It is explicitly listed there in the company of, and belonging to the other no. 105 Garden Implements: Garden Roller (no. 105a) Garden Trolley (= Four wheeled Hand Truck, no. 105c) Wheel Barrow (no. 105b) Extension Ladder (no. ....) Grass Cutter (no. 105e) One could suppose that the only logical number would be 105d! The Extension Ladder was never made but it was planned. It is one of these models which shared its fate with other deletions in the period 1945-51 like the Jowett Javelin Saloon, The Albion Milk Tanker, the Vampire, and the Bedford Articulated Tanker. Evidence of its planning is found in: 1. The existence of 4 design drawings of May and June 1948 (ill. in DT&MM page 256, ref. in GBof DT page 212). 2. The existence of a mock-up (Christie's South Kensington catalogue 26-27 September, lot no. 793). 3. Reference in the abovementioned Dinky Toy Job List Index. Kind regards, Jan

Jan. Definitely a very nice unveiling about this 'not issued' extension ladder. Very interesting to read what was probably the intention. Again one of the hidden facts of Meccano Dinky Toys Liverpool reveals together with very interesting documentation. This is what the forum is worth and makes it interesting. Thank you very much for this wonderful research. Who follows? It also shows that we owe much to the extensive research by Mike Richardson, which is often referred to in discussions. Kind regards, Jan Oldenhuis

Meccano U.K. has planed at least one hundred and two and Meccano France fourty six models which have never been issued. This spanes from a project to drawings, mock-ups and even pilot lots.
