There is something interesting in each issue of the Journal. In the last issue (January 2021) is this photo of a chrome plated Mini Cooper S in gold colour (chrome plating can be done in a varity of colours, not only in white) which is not gold plated. Very little is known about the chrome plated Dinky Toys. Some were production models like the # 352 ed Staker's car and the # 700 Spitfire, some were promotionnal models : the # 149 Dyane, some were code 3, some were fitted on plinths for special occasions : # 112 Austin Sprite, # 674 Austin Champ, # 698 Tank transporter and Centurion, some were only partly plated like the # 266 ERF fire tender and some still remain to be discovered. So far, I have listed 24 chrome plated models but there must be others : 23 e Speed of the Wind 39 e Chrysler Royal 24 r Peugeot 203 24 s Simca 8 sport 105 Maximum Security Vehicle 108 Sam's car 112 Austin Sprite 113 MG B 135 Triumph 2000 138 Hillman Imp 149 Citron Dyane 250 Mini Cooper S 266 E.R.F. fire tender 269 Type 4 Ford Transit 296 Duple Viceroy luxury coach 352 Ed Staker's car 353 Shade II mobile 476 Morris Bullnose 674 Austin Champ 698 Antar tank transporter and Centurion 700 Spitfire Mk II 925 Leyland Dump truck with tilt cab 965 Euclid rear dump truck 1419 Citron DyaneDo you know any others Perhaps Vic Mumby can tell us more about these mysterious models.
