The Hornby Railway Collector April 2011 N 462 shows two variations of the Dublo Commer van. One with a base pate and one without. It seems that that there were two dies. Can any one confirm this and say which is the earliest model.

Photo by courtesy of HRCA. I suggest that the early model is the one with a base plate as it is more expansive to make but I have no evidence for this. The March 1958 Meccano Magazine does not mention if this new model has or does not have a base plate. The drawing 14 315 Commer van assembly (Dublo) and / or 14 316 Commer van body (Dublo) may give the answer.

Ron Ford's question dated 07/07/2015 in the Singer Roadster has not been answeared yet. Has anyone got or seen the Commer van with knobbly wheels as shown in the 1960 Eighth U.K catalogue?Perhaps the picture of the underside of this van above will prove that this model has been issued with black knobbly wheels. Thanks for any help. All the best.Jacques.

An amazing find - I have had (and seen) many of these little vans, but never without a baseplate. Black plastic wheels were the last type to be introduced, suggesting a late production. Another Dinky to look out for!
