Hi Everyone, Bit of info needed if possible. What is the story behind the 'Slumberland' Guy Van fitted with Supertoy hubs? I have seen these around, and really should get one to complete my line up, but I was convinced that the 'Slumberland' Van was long deleted before the Supertoy hubs came into use. Indeed, I thought the first Guy Van to be fitted with the later hubs was the 'Weetabix' livery, released after both 'Slumberland' and 'Lyons' had been deleted?Chris Warr.

Or - on the other hand - did it raise your question? Kind regards, Jan

Jan, Wonderful thank you! I knew I has read about this variation but couldn't recall where, it was your article in the Journal, I should have known! The export of late issues makes sense, and I had forgotten that the early Guys weren't issued one after another but concurrently. I guess I like to put these models into nice neat little time frames and the real world just never worked like that! Thanks a lot for helping me out, now all I need to do is get one! BTW......I won't even bother to look for a black hubbed version then........ Chris Warr.

Jan--I have gone back and read some of the Journal article since joining DTCA, but that one is so well done and interesting! You did a wonderful job explaining the whole history of that van, along with great illustrations. Very well done and you are right...it appears that subtle variations of many Dinky models keep appearing; the final history won't be written for some time. And I also agree that a proper, like new or mint Slumberland is beautiful and would have to be a favorite. Scratched up and dull, it loses much of its original appeal.Terry
