135 Triumph 2000 Saloon (1963-69) was created by Dinkinius
The December 1963 issue of the Meccano Magazine announced the release of the 135 Triumph 2000.
From the 39e Chrysler thread mention was made of a 135 Triumph 2000 issued in a chrome-plated finish:dinkycollect wrote:
Several chrome plated Dinky Toys are known :39e Chrysler Royale, 135 Triumph 2000 925 Leyland dump truck with tilt cab. What were they exactly ?Code 3 ? Promotionnals ? else ?There is some info on the 925 Leyland dump truck with tilt cab thread.'Here is the chrome 135 Triumph 2000, that was listed for sale through Vectis on 19 May 2009 but bidding failed to reach its reserve. As I could not find it re-listed, it is possible Vectis entered into negotiations with the highest bidder.
This model was entered for sale together with a number of other 135 Triumph 2000 promotional issues. It is possible that it too was produced as a promotional, intended for an executive of the Standard Triumph Company or one of its sales agents

Thanks Bruce, I've been on the lookout for some of these for years but no luck yet. There was a full carton of these sold recently I seem to recall? Not sure if they were split up and sold individually, I certainly hope not as items like this should be kept as a single unit. Chris Warr.

Greetings! For those who are watching this Thread, I had added a ninth colour combination to the promotional colour schemes prepared by Meccano on behalf of Standard-Triumph Motors. Thanks too for Townie54 for his contribution. I forgot to mention the little valises/overnight bags that equip the 135 Triumph 2000. It is surprising how Holden, Hillman and others were given a decent suitcase, but the 200 had to do with these little packages! With your permission Townie54 I would like to add your colour combination to the post containing the other schemes.

That's fine. I had forgotten the little case in the front of the Hillman, and blow me down if some cobber hasn't nicked the case from my Holden's trunk!

Thanks for allowing me to add your picture to the growing visual list of the various combinations! Stone the crows - don't look at me with the missing Holden suitcase!! Bugger me, one of my Holden Sedans has a trunk in place of a suitcase! Looks more like a Monopoly hotel!

yes a Holden has just sold on ebay, with original luggage - a brown trunk complete with the old 'wood' ridges.

You are correct about the trunk with ridges. Here is my 196 Holden in turquoise and white with the uncommon pale 'duck-egg' blue interior, showing its similar trunk. However somewhere in one of my models I have a light green trunk, hence the reference to Monopoly. Hope JD does not chastise us for the off-subject direction of these couple of posts!!.

Regarding the above Post #11, readers will have noticed that the sum paid for this carton of 135 Triumph 2000 is missing, yet another one of those Topics that suffered during the transfer process. For those who are interested, the lot sold for 9200.00 plus premium and VAT. There, that finishes off another edited Post!!
Kind regards to you all. Bruce (150)20160410/885/0049
