Hello Rob,
May I ask what colour your example is finished in ? I have one in a shade of green that is a little bit more ' alive ' than the normal light green found on models of this era,
it came with smooth black tyres.Kind regards,
Stfan

That sounds great.If possible,
can you please compare the light green of your model with the light green used on the slightly later ridged black wheel models
from
1947 onwards. It seems that a different shade was used prior to 1947 that has a richer brighter appearance.Kind regards,

Hello Stfan,
Sorry but my 36b
from
the cellar is not green but saxe blue.I did find some other 36 series,
all with smooth hubs
and
except
36a all with a slotted baseplate.The Rover
and the 4 - seater are in green. On the second picture two green ones are placed next to a later Rover in green. It is difficult to see,
but the two with smooth hubs are sligthly brighter green.

Just the common ridged hubs medium green post-war version of the no. 36b Bentley, but a very nice one. A new acquisition in accordance with my quality replacement project. It is said that despite the similarity the original 24 dies were not modified to produce the 36s because both ranges were in production together from the time of introduction of the 36 series in mid-1938 [sic!] until manufacture ceased during the war (DT&MM p. 59). I have only limited knowledge of pre-war Dinkies, but why then do my 36b examples show a clearly visible scar on the exact place where the 24 series models had their spare wheels mounted? Besides, I found a nice picture of a 1935 Bentley fixedhead coup which in my opinion must have a close similarity to the prototype for the Dinky Toy of 1934. Kind regards, Jan
