The Hersham
and Walton Motors (HWM) name is still going today it is now an Aston Martin garage.Look at the following site: http: / / www.hwmastonmartin.co.uk / all - about - hwm / our - racing - history.asp for a history of HWM
and the car shown is in a green just like the Dinky version - it looks like Dinky got it exactly right.Dave

David,
Thank you for the link to the history of HWM but although it gives an interesting history of the prptotype for the Dinky 23j,
It does not answer the question.I have written directly to HWM in Walton on Thames
and hope for an answer. If I do,
I will post it here.

Here we
go,
they are speedy guys at H.W.M.Here is the reply to my question about the colour of the 1951 H.W.M.racing car.Good afternoon Jacques,
All HWM race cars were painted in the same colour green which,
as you will have seen,
is lighter than the traditional British Racing Green.Jaguar traditionally raced in BRG (
or their own variant called Jaguar Racing Green
).Aston Martin
and HWM chose a lighter green (than BRG) to differentiate their cars on the track.Aston Martin Racing Green is very similar,
albeit slightly darker,
to the H.W.M.colour.If you look up a picture of the Aston Martin DBR1 race car you will see Aston Martin Racing Green.I hope this helps.Best regards Justin
