Jacques,This is a B-17G. The engines have their covers installed at the end of the day's flying. My last permanent employment as a museum curator meant I dealt with a lot of B-17s, B-24s, C-47s, etc, but all totally fragmented having come to earth in isolated parts of Papua New Guinea during WW2. The visits to these crash-sites were as part of a US Army recovery team retrieving the remains of the crew and/or passengers. Slightly different environment than collecting Dinky Toys!Bruce
