769 British Road Signs Town Set B (1960-63)

Hello Ron Thought I would create this topic for you using the image you posted of your very rare bubble pack version of the 769 British Road Signs Town Set B that you have just posted in the 772 British Road Signs Set. Do you think you could post a picture of the reverse of your 769 set? The 769 British Road Signs Town Set B was issued in 1960 its packaging was originally in an end-flap box as also shown here. Oh by the way, this set does not appear in the PDF File, so I had to conduct a quick search as to its period of availability, which is subject to change! Ramsay states 1959 to 1964, but the sets were not included in the late 1959 Dealer Order Forms. I will carry out a search of actually when the sets were released and finally withdrawn. Hi Bruce and all, Thanks for the information. Very thorough, as usual.There is nothing on the back of the pack except a price of $1:40. I also have a 767 bubble pack that isn't as good and the contents have been jiggled around. I am considering taking out the staples and setting things right. The cover isn't glued to the backing card. The price on 767 is $1:50. I am not sure where these, but the prices must be for USA as NZ had not moved to decimal in the early 60s and I think Australia was about the same time. I have just found a 1964 NZ Dinky catalogue - the one with the mysterious letter groups. Ron

Hello Ron Thanks for the information of what is on the back of the 769 card. The price of $1.50 is not that for Australia as the set was never available in this country. Decimal currency arrived in Australia on 14 February 1966, so in 1963 and 1964 we were still in pounds, shillings and pence. It is not the price for Canada either, as the Canadian price was 75 cents. The British road sets were not generally available in the United States either according to the AC Gilbert catalogue for 1963. Maybe it was available in limited quantities in that country, so possibly Terry, John or Jose may be able to enlighten us. Did your New Zealand catalogue still have its price list stapled to the middle pages? The one for Australia ignored the UK example of alphabetical grouping, opting for a numerical listing presumably due to the pricing differences that prevented any groupings.
