Hi Richard, It is a classic, no doubt about it, here are mine, they each have body colour, and black hubs.....
I don't yet have a cream one, which I think came with cream, blue, and black hubs, so 3 more for me yet! When I started school in 1969 this type of bus was still very much in use on the school run where I lived. Chris Warr.

Hi Terry, Not windows but route number and destination blinds, painted on years ago, and to be honest I left them as I think it looks good. CW.

Very nice your buses. Do you think that the Yellow and the blue buses have had black hubs ?

All three of them had both the early black hubs and (since 1950) the coloured hubs, the latter without the second colour strip along the base. The half cabs always had crimped axle ends and never got the rounded ones, as they were discontinued in 1952, the year in which all remaining Dinky Toys lost their crimped axle ends. Regards, Jan

I wasn't aware that the one with coloured hubs can also have the dark green line underneath. Still, I presume that examples with do always precede examples without. Correct? I am no great variants collector like you, Richard. Just a modest example of each basic colour scheme present. Two early ones with black hubs, green and cream - and one later example of the blue one, with coloured hubs indeed. Kind regards, Jan

Jan--I would agree with you that usually Dinky deleted or minimized things as time passed by, so I would guess that the Single Deck Bus without the lower stripe is the later version...which is probably also why I was able to still find one in 1959 in a toy store. Best regards, Terry

Those are some nice single deck buses. Chris, is that one blue, 2nd from the right....has it had simulated windows (?) painted above the front window? Just curious........ Here are a few pictures of my only Single Deck bus. It is a green export version, with the colored wheels. A friend bought this for me in 1959 when he was in Los Angeles at a department store and saw two of them....still new and never sold so many years after they were discontinued. I have always loved this little bus and its quaint little half cab...... Terry

Jan----Very nice.....that blue is my favorite color for this bus, and yours is a wonderful one. A question.....did all these come with colored wheels or just the later ones? This one must be a bit later as it wants the colored flash along the bottom edge....correct? Best regards, Terry

A new picture of my recent addition, demonstrating the lovely condition of the blue Single Deck Bus. I did a little exercise in re-scaling and correcting the angles of some very poor photo details of the large factory drawing of job no. 12192, dating from July 19th 1946. This was offered on eBay in 2016. I did not succeed completely, but the general features are clearly presented in my opinion. Kind regards, Jan

Hello Terry, the change of black to coloured hubs, together with the discontiuation of the coloured strip below, must have taken place around 1950 in my opinion. The discontinuation of this model took place in 1952, exactly the moment when all remaining models with crimped axle ends got the rounded ones (which this bus never got, contrary to its later brothers, the Luxury Coach and the Observation Coach). Kind regards, Jan
