CUT AND PASTE FROM WORD INTO THIS SITE

Dave K. Thank you for the advice you provided in the 449 Thread regarding cutting and pasting from Word or other document into this website. However on trying it, the following came up on my computer. It sort offrightens me to think that another computer can read my Clipboard of what I have cut or copied recently. My daughter assures me this is OK, butstill there is the nagging thought of my computer's privacy being invaded. This did not occur with the old site, so I presume this action is supposed to 'protect' us? Bruce PS I have had tocreate a new Forum Topic, as I tried to add this as a comment in the 449 Chevrolet El Camino Thread but apparently there is no facility there to add an image.

Hi Bruce, I discovered that when you click on the 'switch to plain text editor' button (left below the text frame), you can execute the paste action in the simple, ordinary way (right mouse button, or ctrl etc.). Kind regards, Jan

I see that old threads will be loaded as pdf's in due course but that this is very time consuming; many thanks to all you guys who are doing all this work. There was a thread on the above that included an unusual post-war promotional set (ebay purchase) - is there any chance that photo and details could be loaded or sent to me as a pm? The reason is that I have a post-war 'impossible' Crawfords and was wondering whether it might, after all, be right? (Jan, you might recall I showed it to you at an agm a couple of years ago). Hi Jacques, that indeed was the elaborate description I posted on the 'old' website. Jose Heraud drew my attention to this spectacular item. Yes, Stephen, I remember vividly you showing it to me with some concern and disappointment about the apparent post-war status (and therefore lack of credibility of its authenticity). I don't know what my exact comment was, but I'm pretty sure that I mentioned the occurrence of some more post-war exceptions and that this might be one. Any way, I know several post-war Tank Wagons 25d with 'pre-war' advertising too. Besides, your Crawford van did not show any other possible 'suspicious' characteristics in my opinion. So the present occurence of that post-war version of the Crawfords van may assure you definitely now that your example is quite allright. Congratulations with that. I hope it did not cost you too many sleepless nights! By the way, I have a good photo of a very nice prewar example, but I do not manage yet to upload pictures in replies to earlier posts. This is not possible on this site which has ridiculous limitations for the pictures.As you write, posting stuff as .pdf is absolutely ridiculous and only an IT man could have such an idea. This site is much worse than the previous one and it will certainly not work to bring more members to the forum.This item has been sold in 2015 on eBay for 405. The following text is the description from the seller.'This is a vintage biscuit tin from Crawford's Biscuits, originally for samples/display in the late 1940's, marked Liverpool. I collect old packaging from the 40's and 50's for graphic design reference but need to have a sort of the ones I no longer need. This has been stored away in a box under the bed for over 10 years now so time to say goodbye. The tin measures approx 23 cm long by 11 cm wide by 6 cm deep. It has a paper covered design, marked on the sides 'CRAWFORD'S DELIGHTFUL BISCUITS'. The base printing is faded but is marked 'SAMPLES' and 'ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR GENERAL USE ON ACCOUNT OF THEIR UNIFORM QUALITY AND GENERAL EXCELLENCE'. The top of the tin has a printed price list for 'CRAWFORD'S ICE WAFERS, CUPS, CORNETS & CONES'. Possible for shop display as inside are a card box section and divider which hold a small brass badge in the shape of a ship marked 'CRAWFORD'S BISCUITS' and a small toy red delivery van, also with 'CRAWFORD'S BISCUITS' logos on both sides. Inside casting of van is marked 'DINKY TOYS MADE IN ENGLAND MECCANO LTD'. Both are in quite good condition; the brass badge is complete and unbroken, with pin/clasp at back. Has age related patina but would clean up very nicely. Toy van has a few paint chips and very very slight wear to small parts of logo, light rusting on wheel axles; but overall very nice. I don't think it was used as a child's toy. Both Meccano and Crawford's were based in Liverpool at this time. The card inserts are rather worn and grubby and I think there might have been an extra divider as the remaining one doesn't quite cover all the tin inside. Not sure how it would have sat originally. The box section that holds the badge and toy is typefaced 'CRAWFORD'S SAMPLES, DELIGHTFUL BISCUITS, BADGE, DELIVERY VAN. It must be remembered that Both Meccano and Crawford's factories were on Binns Road and that other Craford's promotionnal Dinky have been made such as the UB taxi.All the best. Jacques
